luna mora

Presentation

Under the light of 20.000 candles

The Luna Mora festival takes place in Guaro, a village situated in the natural park of the Sierra de las Nieves. Because of its special environmental interest, this region has been declared Reserve of the Biosphere by UNESCO. Its sustainable development has been acknowledged by the European Community with an award of First Prize as a destination of Touristic Excellence within Spain.

Guaro’s Town Hall has aimed to respect its cultural traditions and with that in mind inaugurated a project 10 years ago entitled ‘Guaro – Village of Culture’. In this project the success of the Luna Mora festival stands out. The rich cultural legacy of Andalucia is, then, the inspiration for this venture, started over 10 years ago, which allows us to enjoy and respect those who have a different language and culture as well as building bridges of tolerance and peace.

These reasons, together with the support received and the prize of a faithful public, surpassing 50,000 each year, more than satisfies our initial aspirations.
